About Me
__ My
interest in working with children began when I was a teenager, working for the
summer at my family’s childcare business. I enjoyed it so much, I
continued to work with their after school and summer camp programs throughout my
high school and college years. After graduating from Reinhardt
University with a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, I began my
teaching career. I have taught third and fourth grade in the public
school system and Georgia funded pre-kindergarten in a private setting.
In 2008-2009, I attended Cambridge University, where I earned my Master of Philosophy degree in education. My concentration areas for this degree were children’s literature and educational research. After I returned to the U.S. and started teaching again, I began to feel that my background in education and literature could be utilized most effectively if I were to become a school library media specialist. I began the Master of Library Science program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in January 2011 and plan to graduate in May 2013.
